My go-to method any time I pull a dizzy off for anything that is not going to require me to spin the motor over once it's out (which is rare unless you're pulling the motor OUT), is to just mark which direction the rotor is pointing when the cap is pulled off. If you pull the cap off and it's pointing towards the front of the motor, spin the motor over a little either with the starter or just with a socket on the crank bolt and get it pointed rewards. Then just put a small mark or dot on the firewall with some sort of paint pen or marker, and you're set. Align it back up with that mark when you reinstall the distributor. Hasn't failed me yet. Got a better chance of mixing up the spark plug wires lol, which is even LESS of a concern if you have little labels on the wire ends
