Default Windshield fog

Ever since I got the truck the windshield will fog over whenever it rains alot or snows. This in the winter becomes ice on the inside which is fun, not. There isnt any coolant smell, loss of coolant, or coolant on the floor and this has been for like 3 years so it cant be a leaking heater core. The A/C doesnt work since the compressor has a leak around the main seal in the center of it. Isit foggingjust because the A/C cant dry the air since it doesnt work or is there something I should look at to fix the frustration fog which will be ice here pretty quick.

Default RE: Windshield fog

Whenever it rains and snows, you end up tracking in moisture from the weather. As the truck warms up inside, the moisture evaporates (dries) and becomes air born. Without a working A/C system (which is used to dehumidify the interior in the fall/winter/chilly-spring), this moisture has no where to go. It sticks around inside and goes to those places which it can condense (anything colder than the interior temperature - windows).

Even with a functioning A/C system, it can get pad in the winter months with all of the snow. In all of my vehicles, I use deep rubber mats in the winter to collect the snow/water and empty them often. The more moisture you can remove before it gets sunk into the carpeting/mats, the faster the fog will clear as you drive. The longer you drive, the less of a humidity problem you will have inside. But the A/C system is responsible for pulling that added moisture out of the interior.

Hope this helps...

Yah that figures one more reason to change out that compressor.
