The faulty module is the piece that the wiring harness plugs directly into at the wiper motor. As a temporary work-around you can tie a stout piece of cord to the wiring harness at that point, lead the other end into the passenger compartment. When the wipers fail, yank on the string. This will usually jostle the module enough (by the cord pulling on the wires) that it will work for a while. BTDT.

If you ask a dealer about this, they will know exactly what the problem is and can probably reach onto the parts shelf and hand you the module needed. They sell lots of these. IIRC, price is about $50. takes about 10 minutes to replace and is easy to do yourself.

Or... You could resolder the module yourself as I displayed in the How-To I created and save yourself $50. It is a well known problem with cold solder joints on the circuit board pictured in the link I posted earlier.

And thanks DINO55, I did took the pictures and did the write-up quite awhile ago. This thread just made me find it and I decided that enough people have asked and I have linked to the particular post enough times that I would just toss it into the DIY section and link to it there if anyone misses it.

Sorry I didn't mention that link - looks well worth checking before spending the $50. After all, what do you have to lose??
