So I have a 2000 model Chevy S10 Blazer that I bought from a tow yard without the key I've watched a few videos but can't seem to get it to start I have taken the ignition switch out of the steering column and am trying to start it by rolling the ignition wheel I guess you would call it but can't get it to start. When I roll the ignition wheel over the dash lights come on everything looks as it should and when I try to start it it just cranks and cranks and won't start. I've checked for spark and am getting voltage out of the coil and into the distributor but no voltage coming out of the distributor to the spark plug wires I replaced the crankshaft positioning sensor as well as the distributor cap and rotor still no spark out of the distributor to the spark plug wires. Is it a problem with the ignition not having the key or is it something else?

I have a 2002, and as far as I know the key is nothing special other then a unique cut. My Blazer has Passive Key lock 2 security wich only checks when there is a key in the on position via a hall sensor and series resistance in the ignition housing. You should be getting a security dash light constant on when attempting to start the truck if you have an issue with this circuit. You have to bypass the security by matching the resistance of the original tumbler magnets, because whenever you swap the key tumbler it requires a BCM reprogram.

The security light does come on when the rest of the dash lights come on but it's a solid light it's not blinking. So what do I need to do to do a reset?

Asfar as I know you need a Level 5 or Dealer Level Scan tool with GM software to reprogram a BCM. I say this because I had to replace my BCM on my truck after attempting to install OEM RKE. A whooping 325 dollars later and no RKE. It turns out when the dealer reprograms the BCM they use the VIN to get the code and thus wiping out any pre-existing functions from the salvaged car.

If this was a security problem then the truck would start for a few seconds and then die as the fuel injectors are disabled. Spark never gets disabled. Is the spark out of the coil 1" of strong blue spark with a steady cadence? If so, is there spark at any of the spark plug cable ends?

Besides answering those questions, you need to get your ignition switch straightened out so that your not complicating this issue with marginal ignition voltage.
