Won't start after sitting for more than two days

I have a 96 with an annoying problem. If I start it every day, she'll start right up. If it sits for a few days, it cranks and cranks but won't start. It will occasionally act like it wants to start, generally at the beginning of the crank, but it just won't go.
If I crank it until I smell gas, then let it sit overnight...it will fire right up the next morning.
Any ideas?

Yea,i was guessing either the pumps leaking pressure,or regulator is leaking..
Do this next time. Turn the key to on,then back off,3-4 times, then try cranking it. if it starts fine, then its either the pump,or regulator.
