hi
yes im new to the forum but im not going to ask retarded questions i have not researched.. i have taken the time to do the research on this site and still have a few questions.. this site was very informative and helped so i figured it was worth taking the time to join and enjoy.
i currently own a 2001 blazer 4x4 2 dr LS 4.3 auto with 30"tires.. nothing fancy..
i just recently purchased a 1998 blazer ZR2 auto with stock everything. but was in a serious front end collision. unsure how much the frame suffered in the accident as i have yet to start the tear down..
to my knowledge threw researching on this site.. i have come to the conclusion that ZR2 had a lower mounting point on suspension and different leaf spring perches to allow for the "stock" 2" lift and then the 31" tires added the extra 1" allowing for 3" more ground clearnace over the LS model.
my question is is it possible to change the mounting points on my LS frame to accomidate the ZR2 suspension components.. know please dont tell me how i can just buy a lift and etc.. i know all that..lol i bought this entire truck running condition with a new trans for less then a lift would cost so it was basically purchased as a parts vehicle for glass, interior, panels etc.. i just want to know if i get bored enough can/ is it possible to change the configuration to of the LS to accomidate the ZR2 and basically get the stock 2" lift on my LS..
if i was a richer man id just take the entire body off my mint LS and motor and trans , tcase etc.. and swap it all over to the ZR2 frame but i dont know if that frame is damaged or whatever ?.. plus that seems like alot more work!..lol
anyone who has or is attempting to make a non zr2 into a zr2 any info would be appreciated..
might sound silly but why cant i just torch cut the perches off and re weld them onto the LS? kinda do a whole rolling axle swap front and rear

The frames are VERY different between the ZR2 and the non-ZR2. Having both side by side, anything is possible, but it will be A LOT of work.

thank you that diagram was very helpful. i now can see and understand what exactly ppl are trying to explain about the perch mounts.. luckily today i found 95% of the parts i need to fix the ZR2 so things are looking up!.. this is to be my bush buggy/ road beater project. having a hard time tracking down more fender flares locally as both front flares were broken in the accident.. debating on taking them off entirely or atleast the fronts.. not looking to look pretty just looking to get messy!.
quick question... it states that the front fenders are unique (are they refering to just the way the flares mount) i need to replace both fenders and i have stock fenders i dont need the flares really.. will the stock fender work on a funtional level?
update... well to answer my own questions.. it is beciuase of the flare mounting it seems. they have a recessed channel in the stamping to allow for the flare fitment.. on both the fenders aswell as the rear quarters.. guess i have to keep the rear flares or have a goofy looking rear quarter panel.. might look silly with only rear flares and non up front but im sure it will make it threw the mud all the same..
