i understand that though, i really don't see the depth in it when i look at it. but, i'm also used to seeing deep, tall, but skinny boxes from prefab boxes.

if you want something that has a "shallow" mounting depth, but will still hit the lows. look at the JL w0. they are about 5 inch mounting depth which with box would be 6.25ish inches (an inch too big for your application) but will still hit the low notes with authority if powered properly. i had 2 12w0v1 (old style) in my cavalier with 150 watts to each and they pounded so hard my parents could hear me a block away, or so they told me haha

today was a deck staining day, sorry guys. i'll show box pictures tomorrow. after that i have to finish painting a 20 foot by 16 foot room, install a floor in said room, and then finish wiring up his truck. he wants to glass the doors like i said and i won't be here for it. i'll have him send pictures of the finished doors (he does work 70-100 hour work weeks... i kid you not, monday-friday, 100 hour work weeks.) the GTO probably wont happen, although i can show you pictures of the previous install, all thats changing are the amp layout

Man 100 hour weeks would average 20 hours a day to equal 100 in 5 days. Even 75 in a week would average 15 hours a day. Hope he's in a very lucerative paying job to make it worth his while. Or he just plain loves his job!

I thought me getting 55 hours in my 4 day work weeks time to time was a lil rough. At least no one can say he doesn't work for what he has.

Or so I've heard... I've been in the same boat as you...
In audio installs that is. Yeah the motor assemblies on the w7's are no joke! I used a JBL gto series sub that was pretty shallow and it worked out pretty good and sounded great. Plus it was only about $120 new. Where's my Crutchfield catalogue at, they had something just for this that looked really good.....

Oh here we go, Alpine Type R shallow mount sub. The 10 inch sub has a mounting depth of less than 3.5 inches, yet have the excursion almost the same as the standard R series subs. The 10 has a 4 inch single 4 ohm voice coil, weird cause most subs anymore are DVC. But the sub runs about $399 from them. You might get a set of the JL's like Mack was mentioning for cheaper since they are more popular subs.

frosted flakes sound amazing right now haha.. well, my build will be finished next week because of a lot of bs coming from my sister in law... lets just say she has a Napoleonic complex. she's 5'0" and is trying to run this house while my brother is sitting around recovering.. worse still, she is bit***** at everyone she can and then sobbing to her mom (who now lives here) and my brother about how me and my mom are burdens on her........... the only reason any work is getting done here is because of my mother and i. but..... whatever, i'll have a sick trunk setup when i'm done and thats all that matters to me really. so, i've got some little pictures to update this with once i get them off my phone. stay tuned guys.

yeah, i'm trying to stay away form those guys. waaaaaay over priced.

i've seen/read about all the shallow mount subs a while ago, i was just trying to get some personal info on his application. plus i thought the W7's were offered in the shallows.

too much info in the HD (my head), sometimes the info gets in with the wrong stuff.

plus, i'm just a big fan of JL.

the only shallow sub from jl is the 13tw5. its a cool sub but when it hits low notes, it gives a weird hollow sound. so, if you don't need low boom you'd be set but anything lower than about 40hz and it just... idk how to describe it really, its just weird to me.

those shallows would only be for the mid to lower-mid ranges.

all the "boom" would be handled by the proper department.
