I got my 4x6's for the dash today, and as luck would have they don't just bolt up to the stock dash cover. I had to do some hacking and slashing on the old speaker to re-use the mounting rim to secure the new speaker. Did have to cut the mounting tabs off the new speakers but I figure this is the first, and last install these new speakers will see. Just need to finish the wiring and bolt down and it will be time to test the system.

Are you able to get any mids or base out of your 4x6's? I was told once that there is a crossover built in somewhere in the dash because the stock speakers were basically just tweeters mounted in an adapter plate. I was thinking about replacing my 4x6's, but thought it might be a waste if I couldn't figure out a way to either rewire the speakers to the amp or somehow bypass the crossover (if it even exists).

Yea, this worked out really well. Used the same stock dash grills too, this was the look I wanted from the start. I have to say I could have spent a little more time speaker shopping, and probably found something that would have bolted right up. LoL, but I am always looking to hack and slash something.

nickyb123, these 4x6's are really not much for bass but do pump a little. I have the mid range turned down on my EQ so, I would say they have a good response in that range. Pretty much they are doing alot of high range tweet stuff. The sound is cleaner over those stock 4x6's. They sound best faded to the back 6x9's, most all the bass is coming from the rear 6x9's. I will be finishing this system off with a 10" sub, should have that install soon. Without the sub this system sounds really good for having less than a 100 bucks invested. I am going to located the sub in rear near the hatch so it can be removed for extra hauling room and then added back when I want. So making this system stand alone without a sub was a goal. I got the 4x6's off ebay and it was well worth the 30 buck investment.
