Default Adding secondary battery, is it safe to place inside the panels?

Hi, I was thinking of adding a secondary battery in the rear, but inside the panels. Is it safe? The type of battery I had in mind was an AGM battery bolted down in some sort of way. Not sure if there is even room inside the panels to fit a battery, but curious if anyone has popped the rear panels off and have an idea if a battery would fit back there somewhere. If I didn't need my cargo area, it wouldn't be a problem just throwing a battery in the cargo floor. Has anyone done what I have in mind or am I thinking the impossible for this vehicle? Thanks

Your not going to fit a secondary battery behind any rear panel. There just isnt enough room.

if you do decide to just bolt it to the floor in the cargo area, they do sell battery boxes you can contain the battery in encase it leaks. having worked on limousines for many years they always find places to stick them, usually up in front fender kinda behind the bumper... have to fab a bracket but the connections always get crappy after a few years

Would there be a significant difference if a secondary battery was placed under the hood rather then the rear?

it would be easier to wire up thats for sure. if you can somehow find room under there go for it. all my fullsized trucks ive had i ran dual batteries up front but there was plenty of room. could probably run like 6 if you wanted to
