Audio/Video Electronics Wired up? If you have some sort of A/V modification let's hear about it here. Discussion of stock electrical problems should be done in the 'Lighting & Electrical' section.

Is this an alright sound system on a budget?

Thats an awesome deal! I paid $200 for an mrp-m500 alone!

If you want 2 subwoofers and are looking to acheive a 2 ohm load, you need to buy the 2 ohm dvc subwoofers

Here is an extremely helpful link when wiring subwoofers click me

alpine subs are good but imo, i like JL audio. i have two 15 inch JL audio W0's in a ported box with a punch 400. the amp pushes out 520 watts. so each speaker is getting 260 watts. thats close to middle range for powering these subs.

when getting subs, dont go for the one that says it can handle 5000watts. all i have is the two 15's on 520 watts. my dad has four kicker comp vr 12's with 1900 watts and i still out bang him anyday. just a heads up that you dopnt have to buy the most expensive subs or the subs that can handle a crazy amount of power. JL audio should be in your price range but if i were you, i wouldnt purchase them from crutchfield. they are very expensive. try discountcarstereo i think its called. you can get two JL W0 12s and im sure you will be very impressed. since i like my subs so much, JL audio is the only subs i will ever buy. they offer alot of bass but you can still hear the music. with kicker, all you hear is noise. but the JL subs gie you noise too but they also hit all of the deep notes where kicker wont..

those aren't the only subs you have the option of buying...? i know for a fact you can hook the alpine type s dual 4 ohm subs up in a pair so that they are run at 2ohm...

Trust me, I'm MECP certified, I know about car audio.. Using a monoblock amp, there is no way to wire two 4 ohm dvc subwoofers to 2 ohms. With a monoblock and two 4 ohm dvc subs you can wire them with either 4 or 1 ohm resistance only. The only way you can have two 4 ohm dvc subwoofers at 2 ohms is to power them from a 2-channel amplifier with each sub having its own channel. But if you know a way, I would be very interested in seeing a wiring diagram or picture...

Unhappy

Ok so I withdrawl my statement that I was wrong, check page 4 example 4, if I'm reading it correct you CAN run two subs off of one one channel amp...tell me if I'm wrong

http://support.alpine-usa.com/produc..._SWS-1243D.PDF

edit: forgot to post the link

editedit: i looked at the wrong prduct number, your right only works with dual two ohms

Correct, If you purchase a MRP-M500 I would recommend going with two SWS-1223D (2ohm) subwoofers.I would recommend buying them online also as CarToys, Best Buy etc. generally only carry the 4 ohm versions.

hey, that wouldn't happen to be car tunes is it? they were running that deal last year when i bought my 12w6 from them.

And, there is no way to wire 2 4ohm DVC subs down to 2 ohms... Alpine is a good company but i prefer JL Audio to it because of the warranty, the quick bass, and the ability to take constant abuse and hold up just fine...

You can't go wrong with Alpine or JL though so its all your choice
