Default amping door speakers

well im planning on amping my door speakers but have never done it before. Ive hooked up subs several times so i know about hooking up power, ground, remote, rca's. The only question I have is how do you hook up the speakers?? Do you have to run new speaker wire from the amp to the speakers or is there a way you can use the factory wiring behind the head unit?

the way i always did it was run the wire through the little boot. the black part where most of the wires run from the door to the dash/fuse box. then i took up my carpet and ran them under that. that's a rather hard way to go, but it worked for me. you can take up the door sills and run them under that if you like.

the cheater way is to pull out cd player, hook front speakers up to the rear speaker wire. ditch the front wire. just cap it off. then in the back, extend the rear wires to reach the amp, and run new wire for the actual rear speakers.

That being said, i would just rewire the whole setup.

Not to go offtopic, but where do you plan on hiding the amp? I dont think there is enough room under the seats and didnt want to wire it to the back of the truck then run wire back up to connect to the speakers. Going to rip apart my dash later to see if there is anyroom there, but the amp I have is pretty big, 11" sqaure and is about 10lbs.

you want to put the amp IN the dash? I dont think thats such a good idea seeing as how an amp gets hot and needs ventilation. wouldnt wanna melt any wiring in there.......if you have a 2nd gen there are 2 extra glove box's in the rear seat......I've been trying to find an amp small enough to fit in there......
