Default big 3 on a 2000 chevy blazer

I would really appreciate any advice on this,I have a 2000 chevy blazer,I was wanting to do the big 3 upgrade for future use and i do have a after market system,Im using 4 gauge wire for my amps,I was thinking of using 2 gauge for the big 3 upgrade,Im not using alot of power from my 2 amps...My question is,I looked under the hood and on the positive side,I see 3 wires,One is going from battery to alt and the other 2 look like they might be going to a fuse block under the battery trey...Will i be able just to add the 2 gauge from the battery to atl and just still leave the OEM wires hook up like they were without taking them off? Will i still need to fuse it?Can i leave the OEM grounds still hooked up and just add the 2 gauge ground to them?I was reading where you can do that...I was not sure? Thanks!!

there is an excellent thread on www.stevemeadedesigns.com on doing the big 3. it has pictures and is explained in detail. you may want to check that out. just go to the forum, then scroll down to the alt, battery thread and its stickied at the top. very easy to find. hope that helps...also i can post pics of mine if you need me to, just let me know...
