Is this a common option?

Default Is this a common option?

I found this picture Is this a common option?-031.jpg while looking for info on poor reception. It shows a different center console than mine which has a secondary headunit slot. While I don't need a 2nd HU, it would be exactly what I need for mounting additional USB plugs and mini toggle switches. Does anyone have one of these? Is it common? Is it a 'bolt on' piece or is it the entire lower half of the center console?

The post I found it on said it was on a 98, which is what I have, so if they exist I would like to hit a bone yard and pick one up.

Also, that CS/cassette holder below the coin holder, is there something else I can put there? An optional part other than the a CD holster? Just curious.

Thanks.

Im assuming you mean the hole the cb or whatever that this is, is sitting in? My 98 has that and a tape deck is installed from the factory there.

Yup. That's the factory remote cassette player slot. It was a fairly common option. Lots of people take out the cassette player and use the slot for toggle switches, CB's, a cubby space, etc. I believe that to get that option you need the whole center console. A pick-n-pull or junk yard would be the most likely place to find one.

Those center consoles mount differently than the ones with just the tray in that spot, so if you do get one, be prepared to have to figure out new mounts for it.

Awesome. To me it looked factory & I figured it was for a secondary cassette deck. Good to know about the mounts but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Since I want to grab a new hood & rear bumper I'll add part of a center console to my bone yard visit.

Thanks for the info guys. It helped a lot.
