Im looking for a diagram to show me where a crossover would go in a car audio setup. Rite now it goes from my head unit to an amp to my subs, but im going to be adding tweeters and i want to get something to only send the highs to my tweeters and only the lows to my sub. But im not sure where the crossover will go in the setup. Or if i would need two crossovers.

I have the same question. I'm getting a pair of alpine type-r 6.5"s and those come with crossovers in the component version so I'm good there. But I'm also getting a type-r 12" sub powered by an alpine 500w mono amp what kinda capacitors would I need for that?

For the crossovers, it depends on what type.. A speaker level type crossover (the type that often come with component and found cheaply) go directly before the speaker.. This is more than likely what you have.....
HU--AMP--CROSSOVER<=SPEAKERS
If no amp, then remove the amp from this diagram..
If you are using a line level type crossover.. This is a much more expensive solution...
HU--CROSSOVER<=AMP==SPEAKERS
This setup requires an amp...
Caps are a bandaid to any issues you might have.. If you are using a large enough amp to cause issues (dim lights/alt whine) then you need to address those issues..
