For what your gonna be using it for Sony will work for ya'. Your not going to be bumping super hard you just want a little better sound than ya' got, and your not looking for show material. So get yourself the box you like and is going to give you the cargo room you need. The only reason we say Sony sucks is because we are out turning heads and bumping super loud, we want show quality stuff, and Sony is way below par on our usage standards. For a nice decent normal use system SOny is gonna work for ya'.

Ironically I hate Sony, so I probably won't be using them. I've had nothing but problems with anything Sony I've ever owned.

What about some other speaker company recommendations? Polk? Boston Acoustics? MB Quart? etc....

I really like infinity speakers......look for something with silk tweeters, imo, they sound the best. metal based tweets tend to be bright and harsh. I had type s 6.5's in my doors and they were alright, nothin special.......the JL's own them easily......

if you have 4x6's in the dash look for the infinity plates, seperate mid and silk tweeter for like $60

I too have the same problem with childern but I own a jack russel dog so I got more space. I have 2 12" Sorry's, I mean Sony's in the back with 2 seperate boxes. Both are thetrapazoid shape boxes so they slide really close to the rear of the back seats. I have enough room for groceries, or a stroller and room for more shopping bags or enough room to put my dog cage and still have room for the stroller or ice chest. Just depends on the sizeof the box.
