could be, ive had similar problems.....it gets really cold here.
just play it low for a few minutes.....it dosent take long to warm everything up once its playing.
surrounds are made off all different types of material....who knows what could happen in -40 degree weather.
I had a PPI DCX 15 and the glue on the surround deteriorated in winter.
but my current subs do fine.

Keep your volume low... But loud enough that everything is ticking overfor the first 5 - 10 minutes or so and you'll be fine... Actually, a good way to say your subs + speakers are good to go, is if it's idling, when you start getting heat out of the vents, to be on the safe side.
I've run my stuff at MUCH colder than -14*F and had no issues.
The fan in my Alpine deck has a bad bearing, and when it's cold, it screeches... usually, by the time it stops, my speakers are good to go, lol

Shouldn't. CDs and/or the laser lens will probably fog up at first when you drive in the morning and cause some skipping.

Like everyone else said, I would just keep it down for a couple minutes and you should be fine.
