Finally buying amp

Looking at a few new different types
1
2
3
4 <<< The original amp I wanted to get.
Since I have 2 amps running at 1500W, wouldn't a 3000W be needed to run the highest? One thing I still haven't mastered is subwoofers and amplifiers..

RE: Finally buying amp

i cant say from experience but i dont think the BOSS and SOUNDSTORM amps are very good

RE: Finally buying amp

out of all those id go with the hifonics

blazinloud 03-13-2008 07:57 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

yea man, those are marketing scams...no way in hell they put down 3500 watts, or ANYWHERE near that. save your money.

RE: Finally buying amp

If you need 1000w TRUE power... buy this cadence. Hands down will kick ass agianst any of those amps you have listed. FTW!

RE: Finally buying amp

First of all. Get those Wal-Mart power numbers out of your head. "RMS Wattage" is the only thing you should concern yourself with as far as power...Its fairly simple to match a sub with an amp, you just have to know some simple things.

Find out what final ohm load you need (I.E. D4 + D4 = 4/1ohm)

Then find out what RMS wattage you need (I.E. 500wrms + 500wrms = 1000wrms)
-this number can vary quite a bit, running 10-15% over the number you need is not a bad idea and wont hurt the subs as long as you tune your amplifier properly.

Then the rest is just researching brands and gettign the best bang for your buck...

RE: Finally buying amp

what is your budget for the amp and what is the sub setup ur running?

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-14-2008 12:57 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

Right now I'm at about $300 or a little over, and I'm running 2 15" Alpine Type R's, the new versions.

RE: Finally buying amp

dual 4's?

you may want more than 600 each

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-15-2008 03:08 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

600 RMS on 4-ohm?

blazinloud 03-15-2008 06:49 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

no, are they dual 4 ohm, or dual 2 ohm coils?

since they're 15's go with at least 800 each....

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-16-2008 02:26 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

Got any amps for that in recommendation?

RE: Finally buying amp

That first Hifonics you posted looks pretty good. After my next paycheck I might buy that one!
Good selections though, thanks.

RE: Finally buying amp

what is the final impedance do you need on the amp? you need to know that before even thinking about any amps. Second, it will be easier and more feasable to buy 2 seperate amps instead of one huge amp that will be very expensive. Third is where will you be installing the amp/s? you need to know how much room you have to work with. MOST IMPORTANTLY though is will your current electrical setup allow you to power all the amps you need?

blazinloud 03-18-2008 10:27 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

$300 for nearly 2000rms is expensive?

bobditts 03-18-2008 11:37 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

Which amp produces a legit and clean2K RMS for only $300?

blazinloud 03-19-2008 01:10 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

Well the one I posted claims [email protected] for $340

maybe they mean on 16 volts :D

bobditts 03-19-2008 06:14 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

I wouldnt believe it until I saw the actual test results. If it sounds too good to be true in car audio, it usually is ;)

blazinloud 03-19-2008 11:02 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

thats true, but even if it was over-rated 400 watts it would still be a good deal.

afterall the 1606 isnt that overrated

I should mention that the amps i posted are if you bought dual 4 ohm subs.....you want to run those amps at 1ohm

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-23-2008 12:49 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

These are the subs I have.
They're dual 4-ohms

bobditts 03-23-2008 09:36 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

since you have the dual 4ohm subs, you can either wire them for 1ohm or 4ohms. those subs can not handle a true 1500RMS each so im going to guess you were looking at max specs. Never do that! max specs dont mean anything. I would say get the amp in the link below and run the subs at 1ohm. cnat beat the price with free shipping direct from the company. Excellent customer service too.

damn man [email protected] volts for $199. And their strappable[sm=drooldude.gif]

Id love to hear one.....

bobditts 03-23-2008 11:38 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

only downside is they are 2 feet long

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-23-2008 02:54 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

Hmm, great price for that amp. I could save more money for the cables and wires and stuff and have more left over. So since my amps run 1000w @ 1 ohm, running this amp at 1 ohm will put the amount of power at its max?
And it doesn't matter how long it is. I'm putting them on the back of my rear bench seat behind the box anyway.

blazinloud 03-23-2008 04:20 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

nope....rms means that should be the consistent minimum amount of power at 13.8volts

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-25-2008 03:52 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

Hmm, so what would be bad about buying an amp like this or this which obviously runs a lot more watts at 1 ohm? Should I be running somewhere about 1500W at 1 ohm?

blazinloud 03-25-2008 05:34 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

sure, you could....but if it were me id strap 2 of the cadence amps...

1500 watts would be fine....

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-26-2008 03:33 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

Would 2400W on 1 ohm be too much? If I use the subs too often I don't want them frying..and the Cadence amps are like 2 feet long, so strapping two together might be pretty long.

blazinloud 03-26-2008 08:23 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

LOL, they dont have to be side by side.......... you probably wont be getting 2400 watts from that amp....

Where have you been... I reccommended that amp like a week ago on this thread... lol

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-26-2008 09:20 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

They're out of stock now, which sucks. $400 is pricey though if I bought 2, but I might run out of trunk space, especially if I put them on the left and right sides of the box and had them laying down. I figured putting it on the back of the bench seat is the best idea since you don't lose any room and it's out of the way. My last paycheck goes in tonight so I wanna order it online tonight as soon as possible I guess. I just wanna finish my system. I'm about to look around for more subs though that I can buy with my budget of a little over $400.

blazinloud 03-26-2008 10:31 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

maybe pat still has his atomic 15?

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-26-2008 11:42 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

I'll prob settle for the Hifonics Bxi2006D or Bxi2008D
As long as they can put out 2000W at 1 ohm I can see how I like them for now. This is after all my first system and I can learn from these things. I know better to next time buy better subs, too.

blazinloud 03-27-2008 11:31 AM

RE: Finally buying amp

what!? for the price R's are great.

dont forget thats 2000 watts at 14.4 volts.....if your dropping to around 12 or 13 volts...well you know the rest....

dimmuborgir6nik6 03-27-2008 02:58 PM

RE: Finally buying amp

The subs are good, and for a good price, but I bought the newer model which I've heard are worse.
