more info :
i had it in my dads tbird and sure i was hooking it up, it worked fine for about an hour, got home was going to put it in my truck again and then it just blew
i hooked it up the exact same way i have all the time before going to go money around a bit more before i decide to junk it (its a Dual Audio amp or something)

Do you have a multimeter? if so what are your readings on the power and remote with the vehicle running, and using the amp ground as your ground reference for your meter?
How many subs are you running on this amp? What impedance is the amplifier currently seeing?

Protection mode usually means a transistor is blown. If you can't get it to come on with no subs hooked up then its a goner.
