Default Give me your opinion

I want to replace my 12" Kenwood sub.

I am wanting a 12" Kicker Solo-Baric

My memory on the ohms and all that is faint...but this sub seems pretty good.
I love the rocksfords...and the older market stuff.

But JL or kicker is what I want in my ride...unless im gonna do an all alpine set up in my car...which I almost have.

Well give me your input on what 12" sub I should put in my ride.
I already have the box my bud made.
and my amp can handle whatever u give me so go for it.

Thanks

Default Kicker

For the price I'd go with a 12'' L7 kicker and get an amp to match the max rms rating maybe a little extra. I used to have one myself in a ported box and loved, but then I wanted to upgrade and went to a 15'' L7 and put it at 1200rms. Although JL's higher line is definitely better but you will see a huge difference in prices. Just depends what price range your looking for but I have always liked Kicker

bestbuy has kicker in stock now, im not impressed with the subs but there amps are bomb. i had 2 12inch jl w0's and those things handled double the rms with no problem. the quality was amazing, iv tried playing dorrough's, "flashout" on like 6 or 7 other subs and none of them pick up like the jl's did. i now have 2 12inch alpine type r's and those babies boom, im very happy with them. but price wise go through sonic electronix a type r is $130 compared to bestbuys $250 so you get the drift.

-edit-
or you could get this...

btw....jshark? do you run 2 or 4 ohms with ur subs? and the alpine R, is that the swr???

so i narrowed it down to JL, Boston Acoustics, Orion, or Kenwood. I'm leaning more towards the Orion or Bostons...both are very nice looking, performance, and price wise.

swr, type r its the same thing... type r sounds cooler. running them at 2 ohms on an alpine v12 mrd-m1005. just to tell you how much power these have... i was selling my jl's last week and the kid and his friends wanted to hear my type r's. well 5 mins into playing every god damn song they had on there ipod, 5 or 6 neighbors came out bitching about how things in there house are vibrating and it was too loud. after that i left to get some smokes and when i was driving back there was 2 cop cars in the front of his house talking to them. awesome hehehe.

Orion subs look sweet. iv never really heard them but iv seen a few people running there older stuff. are you going to stores and checking these out? you have to remember they wont sound the same in the store as they do in your vehicle.

you do know that Kicker makes a round sub with the same magnet and assemblies as the square L series? Stumbled across them on Amazon the other night.

Any more details on the Crunch amp? My first amp was a 800 watt Crunch Drive series and I wish I never tradded it of. Great amp. IIRC the fat boy line of amps that match the thick surround subs were good amps also.

Really? The one I had looked exactly like this one, but had needle gauges at the top the showed the power level and electrical voltage.

if so, you got a pretty good amp. I beat the living hell out of mine and it only shut off on me one time in 5 years of use and abuse. Mind you it would get hot enough to fry eggs and burn the crap out of your arm if you wernt careful
