8ga is a little big from the amp to the subs.

i have a 750W rms amp and I'm using 12ga wire from the amp to the sub.

any wire will work, i picked up two $4 spools of 12ga wire at radioshack. one black and one red

I would use the shortest wire you can of 10 guage myself. If the subwoofer is ratedfor a specific guage use that guage. Otherwise you should go with bigger wire just to be safe... The less resistance the less likelyyou will be to short out your AMP.

the thickness of your speaker wire only needs to be equal to the thickness of the tinsel leads. anything larger is unnecessary overkill.

the wire that connects your voice coil to your connector on the sub itself.
