Default Help-Power problems!

So the other day I use the keyless entry and my sub an infinity self powered 10in starts humming by itself and only stopped when I started the vehicle. Then I noticed that with the radio on and a bassy song the headlights seemed to be flicking, slightly. I have a 2004 with 36k a optima red top battery, the infinity sub and a 3 oulet 12v strip which is not always on. Aby ideas, mabye my alternator is going or battery, but the optima is only 2 years old. Thanks in advance people!

Check your ground wire on your battery to make sure it's not loose. My dash lights started to flicker and that was the cause. As for your sub, checkyour ground wire and power wire.

sounds like some wires are shorting on each other are your conection spiceted with tape or crimed on splices if taped than it could be that the tape is falling off and the wires are contacting some thing metal or another wire

i saw this on a trailblazer that was ext to me at a stop light
he has a real loud bass system and whenever you heard the bass
his headlights would dim down
i was woundering if maybe he was taking too much juice from the battery or something

The GMT360/370 platform vehicles have a nasty tendency to dim the lights even with everything all stock. For some reason the alternator does not respond as quickly as older systems. GM states this is to reduce the draw on the engine when a high current draw is experienced and that it is how it is designed. []

HM....that's weird my head lights dim when I just hit the two front windows to roll up.....now when I'm listening to my music I suppose they bim but my head is being bounced around pretty bad so I so notice that much. But your problem does sound like a ground/wire shorting problem.

Well I have since taken the truck in for a service before a trip and they could not find anything wrong with her. I have not had the amp buzzing/ coming on by it self since I took it in. As swartlkkmentioned the service manager also said that and also another customer who said previously owned a s-10 pickup. Also wanted to ask would upgrading the alternator help and could/can you tell if an alternator is going.
