I was also thinking of making my own box, but I'd hate to carpet it.
I found some boxes on ebay but I don't know the deal with them, or why they're so cheap..

$369

$135

$325
Those look pretty good, but I'm comparing them to these

But like Mr Blazer LT said, Alpine is better for quality and Kicker is better for sound.
After getting my Polk speakers, I realized the bass is good but not the best for sound quality. Once it gets loud you can't hear the lyrics anymore.

kicker is better for nothing......if square subs were good alot more companies would be doing it.

alpine makes better everything over kicker.

So you think if I bought 2 of the Alpines you posted it would be better than 2 of the Kickers I posted?

i wouldnt buy anything at ciruit city or best buy. their prices are WAY too high. the amp i got was listed for $475 at circuitcity and i got it for ~$185 on ebay.
people speak very highly of the Alpine type-R's....

however, this thread might recieve more attention from the audio-pros in the AV section
yeah same dont get anything from stores as you can get it for 200 or 300 + less on ebay

Going with two L7 12s are overkill in my book. I have one in a nice pmi box that sounds amazing. I get comments from people all the time on how loud it is with only one. In my opinion more is not always better. Especialy since you have to have a lot of mids and highs to counter balance the squares.

Yeah, I knew a guy who had 2 15 " L7s in his Cherokee and that was one bass vehicle I hated riding in, the bass was so freakin' loud. Knew another guywho hada single 12" L7 in an S-10,it was like being in front of a concert speaker or something, and he was only feeding it 250 watts.

What I said is obviously debatable. I actually had sealed enclosures in mind rather than ported, but I still stand by it (generally speaking) and I know there are other audio pros elsewhere that would agree with me. Of course both brands ofsubs will get plenty loud in the properly built ported enlclosures. I'm sure you won't go wrong with what you choose.

My friend said to go to Alpine, so I guess that's one more vote enough to go with Alpine. I want loud, but I want quality. I wanna hear the music, which I can't seem to do with the Polk speakers I have now. Once they get to a certain bass you just hear vibrations and nothing else.
Can you still hear the lyrics with the L7? Or just noise?
