or you could go extreme, and do what i did, get a decent midbass driver and add a seperate tweeter, like adire extremis and vifa tweeters, and then build you own passive crossover, not that hard to do.

I have thought about that, and amplify all the speakers with a small sub. But Im sure that would be 500-1k to do it right.

well, for front mids, and tweets, it cost me about 250 just for the speakers. the passive crossover cost me about 50 bucks for the pair (parts) and the amp was about 400. that was just for the front stage.

I dont think I will be going extreme like that. I just want a nice sounding system. Sometimes I would like a Sub but I dont want to loose my cargo space, since I am a big fisher/hunter.

I bought some Kicker DS60 (I think) 6.5" speakers, they cost me about 90 bucks. Hopefully they will sound good.

I had the same problem...but i have a 4 door blazer with 6 speakers...4 door speakers and 2 dashes...i just said the heck with it...i got a 4 channel off ebay...an old school classic 4 channel and hooked it up....i have new alpines in the doors and pioneers in the dash all new...my amp only does about 25x4 but with 14.4V they do like 40x4...i have my dash and front doors to my front channel wired to 2 ohm load so they will see double like 60 watts to them...like 40 watts to the doors and 20 watts to the dash thats RMS each...and then my rear channel is wired to a 4 ohm load so my rear doors see 40 watts each...so it all evens out..sounds very clean...with my 4 channel its so crisp and clean...you can actually hear the voices over the bass...its so cool...you can mount the 4 channel under the rear seat to save space if you like..thanks, nice thread.
