Default JL Audio 8W7

I found a new one for $265ish shipped. The problem is my amp has a hard time pushing my 12W3. A friend of mine has an ARC Audio amp which puts out 1,150rms bridged that he'll sell me for a damn good price. Would these two work good together? This amp sounds like a little too much for this sub but I'm not exactly a car audio guru. Like always, I want the best bang for my buck and nothing less.

Thanks,
Jesse

That amp will be fine, I don't think you will have to bridge it though!!

I dont know what this guy is smokin, but im guessing its subwoofers..IIRC the 8w7 wants ~300wrms, so 1150 would cook that coil faster than a corn nut in a microwave...Why dont you tell us what model amp you have and what you are trying to accomplish with your bass system. Thats quite a bit of money to spend on an 8" sub when there are a couple other 8"s on the market than can be had for lower prices with similar sound...

no they wont work together. Plus, dont waste your money on that sub. It is way overpriced and its performance is sub par.

i can get 2 12" W7s for that price. and like Nick (cloak) said, pushing that many watts to that 8 would cook those coils.

what? I thought all w7's were dual 3 ohm coils!!!!!!!!

and what ever happend to the debate that power does not destroy a driver???

what amp do you have now?

at what load does that amp put out 1100 watts?

How is your W3 wired?

Box specs?

Size of power and ground, and ground location might be helpful.
