I'm slightly confused, the remote wire to the amp is what turns it on and off when the radio is turned on.
Or do you want an on off switch so if you do not want to listen to it sometimes when your radio is on?

If your talking about putting a switch in line on the remote wire, I put mine right on the lower dash, where your left knee is.

Look at my build thread, on page 2, you'll see where I put my bass ****. I think it looks stock, yet is right at my finger tips when I want to make it get loud

You don't need a switch like mentioned the remote wire is what turns the amp on and off. You could use a remote gain **** to turn the gain up and down but there's no need for a switch.

I guess you could tap into the remote wire with a switch, so if you do not want the sub on when you are listening to music, you could over ride and flip the switch.
What a remote wire does, is when you turn on the radio, it sends a signal back to the amp to turn on.
So if you plan on listening to your sub all the time when the radio is on. then there is no need for a switch.

The reasons why vary. Some do it because they don't know better. Others do it because they have kids and a HU without the ability to turn off the sub outputs for example. The only other way they have to shut off the subs when the kids are riding is with the switch. I was in that boat at one time before I was able to purchase better HU's.

If you don't have a reason like the latter then it's not necessary. Even if the remote lead on the HU didn't work the remote wire for the amp could simply be hooked up to the switched power wire for the HU.
