IMO I would go with reamping your alternator and getting a cap espetially if you do get another amp. I had a 950 watt amp in my 87 blazer and it drew the power down even with a reamped alt and a 1 farad cap. but thats just my 2 cents.

I have never had any probs with the subs left in the winter(have had many differnt subs in 4 yrs), and I have never gotten a bigger battery.

yeah, whoever told you the cold would hurt subs needs a good slap upside the head...also, check your ground for the amp for corrosion or looseness. By the way, what gauge are your power and ground wires ?

if its only 8 gauge I would change it to 4 gauge because of your power draw.
