Hi All,
I have a 2001 Blazer LT 4x4 4 door with the moonroof. I'm looking to upgrade the standard temp/compass display to the unit with the MPG calculator in it. I've seen threads on how to wire the unit up (for example: https://blazerforum.com/m_29437/tm.htm), however my question is more basic:
I've never seen the unit with the MPG calculator in it. Does it physically look the same as the unit that only has the compass and temp display? How can one visually determine which unit it is, if there is no power? I am asking from the perspective of someone looking to go to a junkyard and find one of these in a parts truck/SUV.
The reason I am asking is that I've tried asking sellers on ebay, and it seems that many do not know if the MPG calculator is in the unit they are selling. Do all units with the 3 buttons next to the map lights (I am assuming this is the HomeLink unit) also have the MPG calculator? How can I tell if a salvage unit has the MPG calculator?
Terry

The overhead consoles with trip computers look identical to compass/temp OHCs, other than the buttons. To find one with the trip computer, look the MODE button. Non-trip OHCs will only have on/off and us/met.

Ah, I see! I was afraid there was no way to visually tell from the outside. Thanks for that quick reply! I appreciate it!

Damn, those overheads look sick I gotta ask my dad about the ones in the astro vans. He used to work in a GM assembly line putting those astro vans together. I'd like to get one in my blazer but it seems like too much damn work haha.

If my truck doesn't have the trip computer can I still hook that up, and if so how?

There are some tips on how to wire it up in here:
https://blazerforum.com/m_29437/tm.htm
I've not done it myself yet, so this will be a learning process!
