Default Problem after radio swap

My Blazer had a JVC head unit installed which I swapped for a Kenwood this weekend. I noticed today that the radio was bouncing a bit on a road with lots of joints and making a banging noise. I know I tightened it up after re-installing but will have to check.

If it is tight, are there different quality face plate adapters? I don't know what is in there now or if it is Metra or not.

There are different quality dash kits, however I don't think I've ever ran across one that was so crappy it couldn't hold a HU still.

When you installed the cage that the HU slides into did you bend the mounting tabs over around the opening to tighten it up in the adapter? Also, some of the lesser dash kits use some crappy ways of attaching the mounting tabs to the frame of the kit.

I would suggest pulling the dash back apart again, slide one hand over the top of the HU and the other just below it and using the tips of your fingers to try to jiggle the back of the unit up and down. That should show you where the weak point is very quickly.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I did bend multiple tabs to secure it.

I'll take it apart this weekend and double-check everything. I may go to a local car stereo store and look at other kits. This one is a simple plate, about 3/16" think, that doesn't extend into the cavity at all.
