radio not working

Default radio not working

i bought a 1989 chevy s10 blazer. i put a new cd player in it because the other one dont work. all of a sudden my new cd player quit working. i took and tested it to another vehicle and it works. i am not getting power to it. can anyone give any suggestions why it is not working?

Don't use the oem stereo harness to wire it....just wire directly to battery and accessory power, ground, and speakers.

not a good idea unless he knows what hes doing. and besides, you can get harnesess go from the oem to a universal aftermarket wiring. its easier imo.

have you tried checking for power at the harness? a fuse in the car could be blown and if thats the case just recheck your grounding. if the power wire touches the frame of the radio or the radio housing then the fuse will blow, which you may not have heard if you had your radio blaring before it stopped. also check your connections, i like to use butt splices because they hold better if you use the right crimping tool. sometimes hitting bumps causes the wires to come out of wirenuts or just plain ol poor connections.

I just suggested hardwiring it because if there's a short in one of the stock wires, it's alot easier to run your own wires than mess around with the oem harness and stuff. The power wire on my blazer was shorted out for the stereo, so it was much quicker to rewire it.
