Default Radio questions

IN this area i am a complete newb. Lol.I have a 2000 Blazer an i plan on getting a new radio, i went to check out a couple but it seems to me like all the radios are really small an would not fit the spot allowed for the radio. I got the messed up chevy model that came with a tape player. I also plan on hopefully getting a sub, amp, an better speakers in all 4 doors. What would be the best on a cheap budget for all of that. Any help greatly appreciated. I apologize for the newb questions.

they have a kit that makes the new head unit fit in the hole where the factory radio comes out.

as far as a good head unit goes i would suggest saving a little more money and going w/ an alpine. i have one and absolutely love it! although if u dont have as much money i would suggest going w/ a pioneer. my friend has one and its pretty good but not as good as my alpine. i watched the sales and got my alpine for $180 which was pretty good.

I like my Blaupunkt headunit, although if I got a new one, I would probably get a Pioneer higher end unit if I were to get a new one. I just used the one i had from my old car. They make and adapter for it to fit, here is what mine looks like. I got mine for about $150 from crutchfield about 3 years ago. I would highly suggest using them, as long as their price is cheaper (they usually also include all the wiring harnesses and nessecary equipment to install). Also what I did was go and check things out at the store, see what you like and then post back.

Hey man, I have a 2000 blazer as well, I did all what you are trying to do about 2 years ago. I asked the same questions. The answers i got were...for a headunit...go with pioneer...door speakers go with alpines...dash go with pioneer 4x6's...as far as amps and subs..get whatever you can afford...sky is the limit with that stuff...with my pioneer HU it sounds great and is so clear in the doors and dash with a 4 channel amp hooked up...just make sure you have a professional or yourself do it, just make sure you dont get too crazy with the sytem cause i am guessing you have a stock battery and alternator. I since had to replace my battery cause of the power i needed to run my system. if you go over 1500 watts rms might wanna look into alternators. thanks and good luck.
