Removing dashboard, tips?

Removing dashboard, tips?
I'm going to put a Pioneer deck in my 2004 Blazer and just wanted some info on removing the dashboard. As far as I can see there are two bolts near my knees and one (or two don't remember)above the bezel.
If I remove those does thedash pop out?
Should I disconnect the battery for this whole operation?
My stock stereo doesn't say "Delco" on it, but has a flashing red light when the car is off...will removing the stock deck effectively make it useless unless I have some code? (if I ever want to put it back in)
Faceplate and wiring harness are no problems for me, it's just I never like taking dashboards (or anything for that matter)apart without knowing what to expect?

RE: Removing dashboard, tips?
you have to drop the panel below th steering wheel, there are 2 bolts behind it and one in the top of the guage bezel...as far as the factory radio, unless the theft lock has been set,it will be fine...it can be taken to a dealer to be unlocked if needed...

It's an easy job, taking the dash off. The right side of the dash will just pop out, you can even pull it out with your fingers before even undoing any bolts.
I did a lot on my stereo system and none of it wasparticularlydifficult but that was just plain easy.

When i took mine off there were 2 wires going to a little red led, is that theft? they were not connected to anything and i do not have an alarm on the vehicle.
