Default so i got a sub,box,amp for 40 bucks..questions.

Stopped by the scrap yard to get some used tires. I go down there all the time so the guys kinda know me. One of them asked if i wanted a sub set,im like um possibly? He sold me 2 Rockford Fosgate p2 12" subs, homemade box with a small port hole,a 1200 watt sony xplod amp. We wired it up and it sounded alright. I dont know NOTHING about sound systems, but it pounded pretty hard for what it was. We had used a piece of orange extension cord for the power, and actual amp wire for the rca/remote. Tomorrow im going to go buy some 4 gauge wire for the power/ground,the cord was just a 10 min test wire. He said it would sound better with a actual power wire, which i dont know if it would or not. The head unit is a pioneer unit. Dont remember which model, but its a nicer model i paid good money for a while back.

Is 4 gauge sufficient for the power/ground? The box will be where the backseat was in the 1st gen models. I found those post adapters for side post batteries at autozone for 6 bucks. Thats the only way i can think of properly attaching the wire to the battery. Any tips etc is appreciated. I dont have a ton of money to throw in this. i would like to work with what i have for now.

Any info on this amp?

All i know is its 1200 watts. someone painted the cover yellow(which il paint black later) so they covered up the model.

this one is similar

but the holes arent in the same spots. Maybe mine is a older version. Ive been on google for 2 hours. cant find any info on my sub.

The subs are good, the amp is nothing special, just make sure it's set to 600 watts. 4ga will work well with your setup, just make sure you fuse it near the battery.

How exactly will i fuse it?

Found these on ebay. they worth it? This amp has 2 30 amp fuses on it. So i need a 60 amp inline fuse?

It's a XM-2002GTW amp, and it's missing the top cover... install manual is here:

as for the fuse yes those will work just fine, just be sure to zip tie it and the wires well to something as I've had them come apart from vibration, and put the fuse as close to the battery as physically possible.

pull one from the box, the model number will be on the back, then you can find specs for it.

ehh joy. Whoever made the box NAILED it shut...I may just buy a decent box.

My main worry is How can i securely bolt this puppy down to the blazer so no lil punks will steal it? i was thinking steel L brackets on each corner with different size bolts/hex nuts etc so if they did try to take the box it'd take em a hour to get the bolts out lol. The amp is glued to the top of the box.

just pull the speaker out, should be screwed in, don't try to take the whole box apart unless you want to make a new one....
