Default Speaker Instal

Had christmas a little early opened gift5s last night, and i got the Alpine type S component speakers. My question is how difficult is it to install myself? I priced it out at bestbuy today and they want about $120. I live in minnesota with no access to a heated garage, so bestbuy is my only option, and i really dont want to wait till spring to install the speakers. So, can i install them myself if i can find a heated garage somewhere? will i need to run new speaker wires? i know theyll work on the old wires but will they be restricted because of the small size of the wire?

it is fairly easy to do. all you have to do is pop off the door panel and unscrew the stock speakers. The stock wiring should be fine. Just cut off the connector and splice together the the stock wiring with the wiring that should have come with the speakers. It doesnt take much time unless the speakers dont line up right with the stock holes but then all you have to do is drill some new holes. Dont really need a heated garage although it would be nicer. You could just wait till you have a nice day.

you can mount the crossover on the inside of the doorpanel when you take it off, or on the door panel next to your seat, there are little cubbys you can mount it in there and drill a hole, run wires through the door panel, thats what im gonna do with my comps im getting for xmas, before i had my RE comps crossover mounted in the door panel

Well, installed the speakers this morning. It was ALOT more difficult than i thought it would be! LOl. Ran all new wire, and got wire in place for the rear speaker install(hopefuly very soon) so i dont need to tear apart my dash again. Its amazing how cheap and crappy the stock speakers are!! lol will be posting again as a wrap up when i get the rears installed.
