Speaker Working Issues
I've got a 1997 4 door 4x4 that I've owned for about 5 months now. It came with the crappy factory cassette deck and the sound only came out of the driver's side front speaker. The stereo would frequently short out and you would literally have to hit it to get it to work again so I always assumed that the sound only coming out of one speaker was due to a short of some kind in the old factory head unit.
This week as I was on a road trip the front passenger side speaker just randomly cut on as well while I was driving and worked fine. Today I installed a Kenwood head unit so that I could use cd's and my iPod. I had also assumed that when I put in a new head unit that all the speakers would work.
The head unit is in and I used a wiring kit and am fairly certain that I did everything correctly but now the only speaker working is the driver's side front again. Before I start tearing off all the door panels, or searching in the dash for some random short, has anyone else ever had a problem like this? Any help, thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. It's great to have access to my iPod but it would be even better if I could hear it in stereo. As it is I have the world's most advanced car mono system.

You're probably right. I haven't gotten the door panels off and taken a look yet but the front passenger side speaker was cutting off and on some on my return road trip so it probably is the speakers. I'm really hoping that it's just the connection at the speakers or that they are all blown. I guess I'll just have to use this as an excuse to upgrade the speakers all around to go with the new head unit.
