Default Stereo install problems

I'm trying to install a cd player in a 1991 s-10 blazer, and have run into a problem. When I disconnect the black harness that has the constant 12v, ground, and illumination wires, from the stock radio, the dash lights go nuts.

The new cd player doesn't have a connection for the illumination/dimmer wire, so i would assume I need to leave it disconnected.

WTF, am I doing wrong?

ok, whats the wiring color codes for the new deck's wiring harness (btw a deck is a stereo if you dont know) and are you using wire splices and crimps to connect it, or did you buy a wiring harness adaptor (i recommend them btw)

what is the new radio? I would advise buying a wiring harness also just because it allows you to return to stock later on if you choose to, this is assuming you didn't buy one already.

Honestly, i have never seen a radio without an illumination wire off of it but, thats me. it could happen.
