I was wondering if any readers have used PAC GM21A or Soundgate LOCB.4 to set up a feed to additional amps for subwoofers in their Blazer/Jimmy with Delco Bose premium sound system. I don't want to use a cheap hi to lo LOC.

 

Along this same question, I have a similar question. I have a 99 4-door with the 6 speaker stereo system. When I first got the truck, I thought about putting in an aftermarket head unit, but was told by someone thatit can't be done because the security system and ECM are connected to the radio in such a way that if I replace it...certain other things in the truck won't work (I think the dome lights or something like that was an example given to me).

1) Is this true?

2) If I DO still want to put in an aftermarket unit, most of them have 4 channels...but since I love the way the 6 speakers sound, do I have to wire an aftermarket unit differently in order to have it play on ALL 6 of the factory speakers?

I USED to be decent at changing out stereos, but these newer models (if 1999 can even be considered newer) make things so complicated. I miss my 94 Blazer...plug adapter, dash adapter, antenna adapter...DONE.

...i was told the same thing by the guy at best buy who sold me the sony GT420U head unit for my '05 - althought he said it was on 02's and newer - all the warning chimes work throught the factory stereo

he told me he could sell me the door chime module for $90, when I rolled my eyes he sent me down the street to Walmart, they have the Scoche brand GM door chime module for only $30 - lucky the Best Buy guys don't work on commision.

If you hook up both your dash and door speakers in parallel to your front channel you likely won't have a problem. Assuming they're both 4ohm speakers you'll still have 2 ohms of net resistance.
the alternative would be to pick up a separate amp for one set of speakers.


...I miss the early 90's too, the last install I did was on my '93 Ranger 4x4 - a lot less research required in those days. That was before the wife and kids too, so free time for this type of thing was a lot more abundant.

anyone done any wiring to get an external audio source (ipod etc) to hook up to the stock stereo? i'm thinking of installing a 1/8" jack in the console box for my ipod. It would be nice to know which wires in the harness the audio should go into?

Hi. I have a question I can't find an answer to. I have a 2000 Blazer with audio controls on the steering wheel. When I changed my cd player they no longer worked. Is there a way I can get them to work or are they now dead to me? I liked having them because I could use them without looking away from the road.

Partially depends on what brand radio you have. It is pretty easy to hook up, takes a little time though.
