I'm still not clear about the Delco Bose system in my 01 Jimmy. Is the power coming out of the wiring harness to the speakershigh level power or line level power. Because I heard that the best way to add an amp to the Delco Bose system is to add a Soundgate LOCB.4 between the head unit and the amplified speakers. If so, where are the amps for the Delco Bose system, in the armrest maybe? Or close to the speakers? Or under the dash somewhere? That's if the speaker wires coming from the wiring harness at the back of the radio are preamp out level, or lower, which I heard is the case for the Delco Bose.
This should be an easy bunch of questions for HillBillyinOhio, who has lots of knowledge and experience with Blazer sound systems. Thanks in advance for the great help!

Just bought a kit from wally world this weekend. The wire kit and plate only ran 20 bucks. The wires match the stereo color codes. I had the stock unit and my Alpine in in about 30 minutes.
Now I can have my sub and mp3/wma's again.

If you have a 1st Generation S-10 (1982-1993)* you have 4x6 plates in the dash, and 4X10's in the side panels, or in the rear pillar.
The wiring harness to add an aftermarket radio is 70-1677-1 (Metra) and GM01B (Scosche).
The dash kit is 99-4544 (M), and Gm1500B (S)
*Antenna adaptor is 40GM-10 (only for Years 1989-1993)
If you have a 1st Generation S-10 Blazer (1982-1994)*, you have 4x6 plates in dash, and 6x9's in rear on side panel (4-doors will have 6 1/2's in rear doors instead of 6x9's)
The wiring harness is 70-1677-1 (M) and GM01B (S)
The dash kit is 99-4544(M) and GM1500B (S)
*Antenna adaptor is 40GM-10 (only for Years 1989-1994)
If you have a 2nd Generation S-10 (1994- 2003)* you have 4x6’s in the dash, 6 ½’s in the doors, and 4x6’s in the rear panel.
Some models will not have an actual 4x6 in the dash, rather either a blank plate or a 1” tweeter in a 4x6 plate.
The wiring harness for 1994-2001 is 70-1858 (M) and GM02B (S)
The dash kit for 1994-1997 is 99-3043 / 99-3044 (M) and GM1515 (S)
The dash kit for 1998-2001 is 99-3300 (M) and GM1588B (S)
The wiring harness for 2002-2003 is 70-2003 (M) and GM05B (S)
The dash kit for 2002-2003 is 99-2003 / 99-2001 / 99-3301 (M) and GM1583B (S) *
Antenna adaptor is 40GM-10 (needed on all S-Series Trucks from 1994-up)
If you have a 2nd Generation S-10 Blazer / Blazer (1995-2005)* you have 4x6’s in the dash, 6 ½’s in doors and 6x9’s in rear side panel.
On 4-Door models, you have 6 ½’s in all 4 doors.
The wiring harness for 1995-2001 is 70-1858 (M) and GMO2B (S)
The dash kit for 1995-1997 is 99-3043 / 99-3044 (M) and GM1515 (S)

I wish I had read this post before replacing all 4 speakers in my 99 4door. Normally in electronics, positive is the lighter color and neg is the darker color. How nice that GM reversed that in the rear doors. I'll have to fix that come spring. In the mean time, I adjusted the HP and LP filters to the rear doors.
As for Bose, as was stated earlier, no problems replacing the factory HU, the crossovers are in the external amps. In a Corvette, you have to use a Soundgate, because it's a different Bose head with built in crossovers, supposedly only used in Vettes. Isn't that wonderful......................................... ..............NOT!!!
And Soundgates really attenuate the bottom end.

Hi there,
I just bought a 95 blazer LT, i love it! But the CD player (which is stock) shows error. Can't really afford to replace stereo right now, but was wondering if the stereo has an auxillary port or whatever, that I could plug in, or get an adapter, to plug in my mp3 sansa player to.
Or maybe you have another suggestion. Thank you! Great site by the way.

In the old days, you could plug in CD players through an adapter fitting into the cassete player. I don't think there is a similar device for connecting an MP3 to your CD player, and I doubt if your deck has aux input jack to connect your MP3 to your deck (mine doesn't, 01 premium system). There may be a way to transmit the signal via FM to your radio though. Not 100% sure, someone else may know better.

I'm trying to install an aftermarket stereo in a '91 Blazer S-10.
The original Delco radio/tape deck just buzzes.
This forum has gotten me close, but no cigar.
I ordered the Scosche GM10B wiring harness (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.php?id=4500)
This comes with a large 12 wire female socket and a small one wire male plug per the picture.
The dash connectors in the Blazer include three male plugs (black, white, blue)that fit into the large Scosche socket, and a small 2-wire female socket.
Comparing the Dash connectors to the large Scosche Connector:
The three male dash connectors have 11 wires vs. the 12 wires in the Scosche.
The extra wire in the Scosche is a Blue = power antenna wire which I don't need. So I tape it off.
Every other wire in the Scosche corresponds with a wire in the dash connectors. Good.
Comparing the large Scosche connector to the stereo wiring harness:
I have two extra wires in the Scosche:
Blue = power antenna. Again, I tape this off since it's not needed
Orange = Illumination/Dash Light. I've got no wire on the stereo wiring harness to connect this to.
Now comparing the small Dash Connector to the small Scosche Connector:
The dash connector has two wires
Red = labelled as "A" on the dash connector
Black (or brown or dark gray - can't tell for sure) = labelled as "B" on the dash connector
The small Schosche connector has only one wire
Yellow = 12V battery constant
From the polarity of the connector, I can tell this yellow wire corresponds with the Red "A" wire in the dash connector.
I've got no available wire in the Scosche wiring harnessto connect to the Black "B" wire.
Do I need to connect something to this? What is this black "B" wire for?
To try to figure this out, I also took a look at the Metra connector (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.php?id=12448)
Note the Metra has a two-wire connector for the small connector.
One wire is the Yellow = 12v Battery Constant.
The additional wire is an Orange = Illumination/Dash Light wire. You can read the print on the picture.
I can see that thelarge Metra connector has an Orange-White = ??? wire that the Scosche doesn't have.
My first thought was to jumper the extra Orange=Illumination/Dash Light wire in the large Scosche connector over to the small connector, since the Metra picture implies that the missing wire in the two-wire connector is the orange wire.
But I'm scared to do this without knowing for sure.
One thing that concerns me about this is that if I do this, the orange wire would never go to the stereo, and in the original Delco stereo/tape deck, it did go to the tape deck. It may simply be a pass through to provide power for dash lighting, but I don't know this for sure.
My second thought was to order the Metra connector.
If I do this, I have a two wire connector that I can match up to the two wire connector in the dash.
But I still don't have a wire in the new stereo to connect the orange wire to.
And then I end up with an extra Orange-White wire in the large Metra connector that I don't know what to do with.
I think I still have the same question - do these get jumpered together bypassing the new stereo altogether?
Advice?
One more thing - even before starting with the stereo project, the dash lights in the Blazer weren't working. The fuse is good. This is the 5A circuit with instrument panel lights, ash tray light, etc.
Is it possible thatthe entire dash lighting circuit runs through this orange wire, that it's just a pass-through in the current stereo-tape deck, and somehow in the broken Delco stereo this circuit is just disconnected?
