To start off with the alternator, Mechman, DC Power and Singer are the alts you'll see used the most often in competition lanes and in big builds. I'm using a Singer myself and haven't had any trouble out of it so far. I think I gave $350 for it, bolted straight in with no modifications and all I had to do was get a new serpentine belt 1" longer than the factory one.

As for the amp, there's a ton of them that can be had for under your $500 budget. I'll post a list up here of the ones I would consider if I were doing your build myself.

First on the list is the JBL GTO14001 for $469. It gives 1500wrms @ 2 ohms which makes it lighter on the electrical, the music a little cleaner, and an all around high quality amp and at this price is just awesome. They're also really hard to find and even used I've seen go for almost this much.

Crescendo BC2000D. It's a tad more power than you NEED, but gives you some headroom and as long as you're respectful with the volume level you won't have any issues with those subs on it. It's just under the budget at $479.

Precision Power S2000.1D gives you 2000wrms x 1 @ 1 ohm for $240

Precision Power BK1800.1D gives 1800wrms @ 1 ohm for $240. I know several people using these amps and are really loving them. One level up from the previous Sedona series.

MB Quart ONX1.2000D gives 2000wrms @ 1 ohm for $230. While MB Quart isn't the same brand it was before Maxxsonics bought them, I know a few people using these with no issues too.

There's always a refurbished Sundown SAZ1500Dv2 as well for $370. They still carry a 1 year warranty and are hands down some of the most hardy amplifiers a person can pick up. Used or refurbished I wouldn't be afraid of going this route either.

I can make a hell of a long list for that budget and the power range you're looking for. As long as you stay away from brands like Boss, Pyle, Power Acoustik, Performance Teknique, SPL, Nitro, and pretty much any flea market priced, power too good to be true for the money brand then you should be just fine. Both those sub's are at the top of my list for recommendations in that power range, you can't go wrong with either one.

We are selling my girls SAZ-1500D for for $350 if your interested. If you can spring the extra $25 you can get a brand new SAZ1500Dv3 for $525. Also, I am a rep for a alternator company called Excessive Amperage. I can get you pricing if your interested. I have used EA alts in my truck since I started competing 6 years ago with no issues. But as stated before, Singer, Mechman and DC power are also great options

^^ Nice deal on a hell of a used amp. If I were in the market I wouldn't hesitate myself.
