Default time for a new hu!

well today on the way home, I was listening to a cd when it suddenly cut out and swtched to radio.
this hasn't really made me mad or anything as I have been contemplating getting a new cd player.
I have narrowed it down to two
pioneer deh-5900ib
or
pioneer deh-6900ub
just looking for a good one that I can use down the road when I invest more into my stereo
anyone have any reviews or comments on these? also if you have recommendations on other ones
I'm just looking for a decent deck with 3 preouts, ipod interface, high/low pass filters would be nice and thats about it
thanks guys

**oh and im not looking to spend alot. about 200 tops so I wont be buying from crutchfield just so yall know. Thinking about buying from here

Panasonic. They are one of the few that offer 5 volt preamp outputs for not a ridiculous amount of money. Most also have high/low pass filters and have a good EQ setup. I think this one would be perfect for you (plus its under $200 and still from Crutchfield so you get all the freebie stuff).

He said he wont be buying from crutchfield. anyways. Pioneer decks are very sturdy, and very good quality. For the most part, a higher preamp output voltage will ony reduce the risk of noise from entering the system. and even then, it is no guarantee. Higher volt outputs will allow you to reduce your gain slightly on an aftermarket amp. Only slightly though. I could create two systems, one using a 2 volt preamp output and one using a 5 volt, and set the amplifiers identically, and you will not be able to tell a difference. period.

and on the choices, the only difference between the two units are the the usb input which is on the 6900, but optional add on piece on the 5900.

its not that i wont buy from crutchfield, it is just that fact that they can be pricy on somethings when I could buy the exact same stereo brandnew from sonix electronics with an install kit for alot cheaper. But im up for anything
**and according to crutchfield that panasonic won't fit in a blazer

Well i'm certainly not questioning how great Pioneers are, let alone the ones being considered. My dad and meself have used only Pioneer stuff for years already. I'm just trying to say that Panasonic is a nice comparable alternative to Pioneer and is worth considering. I was very surprised how good the deck that I have is and has all the features you're looking for.

just a depth issue. there is a plastic ring behind the factory radio that you need to snap off, and it will fit with no problem.
