Angry Totaly Confused on Speaker Wire Colors

New here guys - great site - all ready saved me a BUNCH of money on the Hazard Switch broken part!! - 16.50 in stead of 200+ and it only took me 5 min!!!

Any how - 1996 4 Door Blazer

No dash speakers - only the 4 door 6.5 or such speakers

So I put the new radio in (How I broke the hazard switch -DOH!!!)
I had the adapter harness

So I go to put my new door speakers in and I am totlaly lost

Here is what I have found here and other sites on what the colors should be

Front Speakers6 1/2" DoorsLeft Front (+)Tan Left Front (-)GrayRight Front (+)Light Green Right Front (-)Dark Green Rear Speakers6 1/2" Rear DoorsLeft Rear (+)Brown Left Rear (-)Yellow Right Rear (+)Dark Blue Right Rear (-)Light Blue

So I take my Driver side FRONT door pannel off and I find
BROWN and YELLOW WIRES!!!

So I have no clue - I have looked everywhere and nothing states that the front driver side wires should be anywhere near these colors

I had my wife and my next door neighbor check - they are YELLOW and BROWN

I must be missing something - car is totaly stock - had the orginal radio and the speakers were OEM

The new ones are aftermarket

From what I found on a couple of other posts is that Brown is always +

Just need confirmation so I dont wire all these speakers up incorrectly

and I dont have a Test kit - well i did - but thats another story

any help??

Thanks in advance

Try a multimeter and test for polarity, I'd research a bit first to make sure you won't blow anything in your head unit, a buddy of mine blew an ECU on his snowmobile with a multimeter, so I don't know how sensitive the electronics are int his case, I don't think there'd be a problem but I MAY be wrong. And unless wiring up speakers backwards harms them, you can always do the trial and error method.

Nice hijack btw.

Hey there, I'm looking for the same info, but I saw the thing about the ford, and just wanted to let you know, in almost all systems, the speakers will produce sound regardless of polarity. However, if you reverse the polarity the quality of the sound id diminished quite a bit. If anyone out the knows what the correct speaker wire colors are, please let us know.
