h.o alts are a waste imo unless you have multiple batteries, or a really tiny factory. most are built into small stock casings and rewound with thicker wire allowing less room inside the alt causing more heat buildup, which is bad. put alot of research in before you buy one is all i can say.

^^ That is true for most HO alts. DC Power for sure and supposedly Excessive Amperage, Irragi and Mechman build REAL HO alts with parts that are truly designed for the job. However, you're also not going to get one for <$300 either that's built properly like that. It takes power to make power and when you're wanting to get serious like buying an HO alt you're going to pay to play, that's just the way it is.

Browse DC Power's website and look at the comparison on their website here -> https://www.dcpowerinc.com/dc-power-vs-competition

It can give some good insight to what it really takes to truly produce a lot of current, along with the rest of their tech articles.

Don't forget to do the BIG 3 as well. Upgrading the alt to batt positive, batt negative to frame, and engine to frame wires with at LEAST 4awg, preferably larger will help even with the stock alt but is an absolute necessity with an HO alt.
