Default what will work?

I have a 93 full size silverado, and im looking to buy a nice cd reciever for it. My questions are:

Will anything fit in the stock mount from the tape player?
Will I need to do any extra wiring or cutting?
and
Do I need to take out the AM/FM radio when I put the CD reciever in, or can both stay in

hey bud,
im not for sure about this but i think your going to have to take the tape player out and put in a new CD player....and on top of it you might have to run a few new wires, or atleast i had to when i worked on my friends older car when i put a cd player in his. i think your best bet is to go to a bigger store like Best Buy www.bestbuy.com and look at what they have because they also do installations fairly cheap as well

One of the guys I work with has a silverado and he has his stock stereo still in...He just mounted his new stereo on the dash (lower right) of the stock stereo and disconnected the stock radio.

I went to a local electronics store the other day and got a stereo mounting kit...it fits Gm vehicles from like 88-04....It aslso came with different stereo plates (flush, 1/4 inch, etc.) for only $15. It came in a big bag.

They make a mounting kit for just about every car or truck from 1990 and up. Just got to your local car audio store and ask them for one.

do what i did for my 89 grand prix (they dont make kits for that model cause theres no room for an aftermarket HU). Soooo.....i just cut some wood with a DIN sized hole in it and screwed it to the dash. or you can by the generic HU holder. its just a piece of plastic that you can screw to anything to hold the HU.

in order to do that deck install....the factory has to be removed.....then use a Metra 70-1858 harness to give you the wires....and a metra 40gm10 antenna adapter.....and i think the kit will either be a metra 99-4544 or 99-3300.
