Default Same issue.

In my 96 I have the same issue with speakers that you have, only on the passenger side. I just ordered all new Sony Xplod 4-way 6.5s last night, so i'll let you know what the issue was when I install them later this week. If you still want to know.

If you don't have a Bose system now, you need the Bose amp as well as the Bose head unit.

Well, installing the speakers was a breeze. I guess just both on that side were totally blown, because they worked without any problems. Also, I would recommend just replacing your head unit with a different aftermarket one. My guess is that it would be more trouble than it's worth to add in the 5th and 6th speakers up front on the dash, and connect them all into a separate amp, especially since i know those stock speakers won't handle as much as a separate amp would throw at them. What I did is throw a Sony head unit in so as to control my ipod, replaced all four stock speakers with 300 watt Sony's, and got an Infinity Basslink sub to put in the back. It sounds glorious. Also, I've heard the Bose system before. Doesn't even come close to my setup, and I only spent around $400 for everything.
