Will my system be any louder if I get a more powerful sub?
Yes, you will notice a significant difference. I ran a pair of 12" Alpine Type-Rs at 350RMS a piece and it was much, much louder than my friend's pair of Type-S 12"s at the same amount of power. The Type-R handles power completely differently because of the stiffer Kevlar cone. Also I ran an older (2001 model) Type-R 10" sub in a kid's Ford Ranger, I think we were running it on around 300RMS, much louder than you'd expect from that little sub. Keep in mind, the Type-R can take around 150% of the rated power, so later on if you want more bass, just buy an 800w amp and have at it.

I got a different battery post with tons of extra space on it.
As for the big three I still plan on "wasting" the money for the wires...5 or 10dollars? And the effort, shouldn't be too bad, I like working on my car.

I am not trying to be an a** I just figured I would let people know that "the big 3" does cost a little, unless you have a hook up on wire that is.
Innovative Wiring now has a kit for 4.3L S-series vehicles...
I've heard nothing but good things about it, as well.
I have one... Just haven't put it in yet, lol.
