Question Wireing and Ohm load for Dash speakers

I have been reading a recent thread involving dash and door impedance and have begun to think of double checking to ensure proper 4 ohm load across the board for my system.

Thread link:
https://blazerforum.com/forum/showth...door+dash+ohms

My question is this, how is the front door and dash wired and at what ohm load is it rated at. Also, how would I go about ensuring that I'm not inadvertently overpowering/under powering my speakers/head unit to ensure component life?

I have not changed in wiring setups from stock as I just dropped in speakers all around and installed a new head unit. Specs are in sig.

Thanks. This forum rocks!

My question is this, how is the front door and dash wired and at what impedence is it rated at?

This might be a little late, but would you mind sharing that information? I just happened to be having the same question myself. Thanks

No worries, the dash and door speakers are wired in series. Impedance is 8 Ohms. That won't hurt the head unit/amp but may make them feel underpowered. In my case, the dash speakers were popping for some odd reason. Whether it was the impedance or not, I don't know.

I ended up wiring the dash to the front speaker wire leads to the head unit and hooked the door speakers up to the open channels left on my amp in the back (2channels bridged for sub and 2 channels front door). Lots of wiring but was able to finish in a day and 4 ohms all around.

Sounds much better now. The sound stage is great and the imaging is really good as well IMO. I can crank up the volume and tweak the eq without worrying about the popping now.
