Default Wiring?

I was wondering when you wire your subs up- When you connect the positive and negative do you just use the regular speaker wire with the positive strand and negative strand connected or do you seperate the wiring- Need help

It's all copper (probably) as long as you hook pos to pos and neg to neg. I don't know what you mean seperate them? What kind of speaker wire are you using?

You can never assume that the negative wire is truely your negative wire, you must always check to make sure it is in fact going to a negative terminal on whatever you are connecting. Same with positive. You can reverse the wires and it will still work, just as long as you keep the negative end from your source connected to the negative end on your destination. That's why things are marked + or - so we could easily find out which wire is connected to +/-. But it never hurts to double check, because in the off chance that they are switched then you are out some money.....

Many cross overs come with a phase inversion switch, test it out to see which sounds better, particularly if you are mixing brands of mid basses and subs.

You can alway do the battery check to be sure the + causes the speakers to all move in the same direction, some cheaper subs may not.

Default RE: Wiring?

What im trying to do is change my subs from 2ohms (paralell) to 4ohms series and im wondering when wiring this, my speaker wire has a + wire and then a - wire and i was wondering when wiring the ohms do I jus use Normal speaker wire with the + and - or do i use one or the other? and from what ive been told sometimes when wiring the ohms differently, you sometimes connect the + terminal and - terminal together with speaker wire. Is this right, and if it is how do i do this?
