XM Radio Question
#1
Does XM radio produce a clearer sound output, better than regular radio stations ?
Say like, comperable to like what HDTV does for viewing.
Was thinking about a purchace if this would be the case.
Or is this just for commercial free listening ?

I'd see if you can borrow someones XM and Sirrius radios so you can compare and see what works best for you in your area...
Around where I live, XM cuts in and out WAY more than Sirrius ever did... But that could just be where our city is compared to the XM sattelite system...

Well, I believe my HU is XM and Sirrius compatable, so either would be ok I guess.
My HU is this.

While not in a vehicle, I have XM at the workplace and for the3 years of listening it cuts out only every once in a while, like once every month i'd say, but usually moving the antenna cures the problem. I plan on getting SIRIUS in a week or so for the NFL.

Yep, you can do either XM or Sirius. Hopefully, the merger will get approved and you can have the best of both of them together!

I can't see it happening though due to the anti-trust laws (unless prices stay the same).

Get Sirius.. I have had it for 4 years now and am still happy with them, I drove a Honda that had XM and was very sad, ended up just listening to FM while I had it..
But ya, the sound quality is better, you can especially tell in the lows.. alot cleaner, not as much distortion.

The SQ in my bosses XM radio in her new GM is pretty darn good... on par, or better than most sirrius units I've heard, but then again, it's not using an FM transmitter (wtf is the point of a high quality source only to output to radio quality sound? lol)
Sirrius cut out a lot less than XM did, most likely due to sattelite positioning in comparison to where my city is.
