Default 2019 Blazer RS - Oil Life Monitor

I've been looking all over the internet and haven't been able to find anything in regards to what I am looking for.

I just purchased a used 19 RS back in December, I took it into get the oil changed mid january and had 49,500 KM showing (Dealership didn't change the oil prior to purchasing), the sticker they provided said I was good until around 58,000 KM. I am currently sitting at 54,220 KM and the oil life monitor is showing 5% oil life remaining but is still looking clean (I know that the OLM was reset as I was the one to reset it after it was changed). I went into a shop and they told me that the oil sill looks good to run for another roughly 2000 KM but I am getting them to change it just to be on the safe side.

Has anyone else had this issue where their oil life appears to be going down faster than it should be like this? (There is no check engine light on either)

I am NOT mechanically inclined so I am at a loss with trying to figure out what's wrong and I am not wanting to go to the GM dealership and drop $300 for them to run a scan.

I don't know about the new Blazers, but I can provide some general thoughts.

First is what does the oil lifetime reading tell us? Does it just report a percentage countdown to the projected odometer reading when the next oil change is due?

If yes, then this could just be a matter of the odometer reading for the next change having been entered incorrectly. Of perhaps it is meant to be read as "5% from when you should start thinking about getting an oil change."

What I doubt is that this reading somehow measures some physical property of the oil. That would take many types of measurements that I'd think would notmally take a full lab to measure properly.

As for scans, often scans can be done by employees at autoparts stores.
