Default 2021 Blazer 9 speed Transmission issue

I got about 6K miles on my V6 Blazer. The 9 speed is something new to GM and I was leery about buying it for that reason, but I liked the look and size of the Blazer, so I know the warranty will cover any issues. I went on a trip from LA to Vegas and traffic was light, so cruise control was used a lot during the up and downgrades. When I got into Vegas driving normally without cruise control, the shifting was sluggish and it feels like gears are slipping. I believe this is an issue caused by GM trying to get better mileage and using more gears and trying to keep the RPM's around 1500, This reminds me of the transmissions in the 1980's V8 Camaros that had the shift pattern 1,2,3,D where everyone drove it in D mode which essentially is Over Drive. Chevy had Trans issues and changed the pattern to 1,2,D,OD so OD was used on freeways only. On this issue with the Blazer, I was able to drive it home using manual shift mode and I kept it in Gear 7 when I was going 70-80 mph so the RPM's were around 3000. I noticed if I drove in 8, the RPM's would be around 2000 and that is when there was "Slippage", so I suspect the torque converter is bad. I'm going to take it in for repair and warranty should cover it, but I wanted to post this in the forum to see if other new Blazer owners have had similar issues. I realize this forum is old school Blazer, so I'm not really looking for answers here, but want to alert future owners of a possible issue with the 9 speed transmission. Unfortunately, I think this issue isn't at the top end, but at the low end of the gears, so there really isn't a way to manually shift this problem from happening in the future. This appears to be a lemon transmission and I will be looking to trade this Blazer for something that doesn't have a lemon 9 speed transmission. I think the Silverado's have 8 speed, so I might be looking to go Japanese. Sad that American made is no longer reliable.

Thanks for the information. I believe that you're in the right forum. I own a 2020 Blazer V6. Please provide updates

I googled and found this. My Blazer falls into this category. I take it in tomorrow and will show them this notice.

The restrictions on the affected cars is horrible. It sure leaves out many owners and leaves them holding the bag.

I got the car back. Here is what GM told me. There is a GM bulletin on this matter. #PIP5608J: TCC Shudder Surge Fishbite Chuggle. When the tranny was built, too much lube was put on parts and that lube eventually mixed into the fluid causing slippage. They flushed the tranny a couple times and want me to drive it 200 miles to see it that clears-up the issue. I noticed slippage when I drove it away from the service center. Time will tell. I will report back. I'm leery and expect a new tranny in 200 miles.

So, I got 50 of the 200 miles and the slippage problem is getting worse, not better. I went to GM and they said I need to put 200 on it before the next "step in the process" which I assume is a new tranny. I told them I have a road trip planned in 10 days and probably won't put on 150 more miles until then and I don't want to take it on the road trip and they said they won't give me a rental car until I put 200 miles on the Blazer. That sounds insane, so I'm going to go on a 75 mile road trip and come back to put on 150 so I can put it into the shop for a new tranny.

Did an early morning drive from LA to Riverside to put miles on the Blazer. The slippage wasn't as bad as before the service, but it still has slippage as it goes up the gears. I'm taking it to GM Mon/Tue when I get my appt. More updates later.
