I want to do something like that with my box. Since I just used nuts and bolts for terminals I am thinking of switching it to wing nuts instead of regular nuts.

Well my end plan is to have a modular setup. When the box is out, or at least unplugged, I want to have a power inverter setup with 3 or 4 inverters on a small platform that has the same plug on it, be handy when camping and what-not. I already have a big 800watt inverter, and I'll probably use two of those and maybe two smaller ones, should be able to power a small mini fridge, plus my GF has cystic fybrosis and has treatments she has to do every day, so having a source of 110v power to power her treatment machines would be extremely nice for overnight camping.
But I also want another module/platform to be able to plug into it, portable air, using a small compressor and maybe a 2 or 3 gallon tank. All using the same plugs as the amp is. I can make either only run with the ignition since there's a 12v switched back there for the amp remote turn on, or I can make them have an override switch on the module itself to use it without the ignition on, since the main power wire is directly connected to the battery and has a constant 12v. I even have another yellow top deep cycle Optima battery and a battery isolator relay laying around, so I may hook it up to one of the plugs too and have a second battery in the back when wanted. New project for next weekend (not this weekend), got new steering and suspension parts on the way! All 4 ball joints, all inner and outer tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, and sway bar end links. Got a pop that I'm hearing when I turn or when going over bumps... I'm not sure what it is, but the ball joints have been replaced before (all bolted in), so at least that makes this a little easier on me. But I don't know how old they are, and the steering linkages all look original :/ so I'm just going to do them ALL at once and have it done! Bonus, had it aligned maybe 3 months ago, so I still have about 3 more months left on my alignment, so when it's all done, the alignment will be free :D |
Score on the free Alignment. I just did pitman and idler arms, all 4 ball joints, all 4 tie rods, both adjusters, sway bar bushings, and new steering cooler lines. It did not even drive close to driving straight. Luckily the alignment shop is right up the street. The steering has much less slop and it doesn't knock every time I turn left. I spent around $500 for all the parts but it was worth it. I got all MOOG, Raybestos pro grade, and AC Delco parts.

Last night I just ordered all new AC Delco plugs, cap, and rotor (should have done all that when I had the top of the motor off originally...), and also ordered some new Delco front brake pads to replace when I have the front end apart next weekend too (I've noticed before that they were started to get thin, I figure it's a good time to replace them when I have the front end apart :) ). NEVER again will I buy stuff like cap and rotors from local parts stores... Local price on a Delco cap, $40. Got it off Amazon for $25, LOL! If time permits, I may even put on the door hinge pins and bushings that I've had sitting around but putting off...
I figure it'll drive like a brand new truck after next weekend :D |

Front end project this weekend!
Ball joints, tie rod ends, idler and pitman arm, fresh turned rotors, new brake pads, bump stops (the old ones just fell apart lol), fresh shocks (not new, but they actually dampen unlike the ones that were on it lol), changed the steering shaft between the column and the gearbox to help eliminate some steering wheel slop), cleaned up and painted everything else (not just so it "looks nice", but to stop rust too... but the "looking nice" is a plus too lol. I'm hoping the red calipers really pop behind the chrome Firebird wheels) Ran into a hitch when I found the left upper control arm bushings SHOT... so tomorrow I'm having a shop press some new ones in, then I'll come home and install it. OH, AND I've got new interior coming :) All black leather from an 01 Bravada, in surprisingly great shape! Seats and matching door panels!

well after the suspension and steering overhaul, I got her aligned today, drives better than it ever has since I've owned it :)

I just saw the same interior in the same condition in a bravada at the yard today and I am contemplating going back for it!

I used to hate my leather interior, until I added seat heaters.
